"The Audio CD and Media Player with Lyrics... And more!" |
| SJGPlay is a full featured freeware Media Player. Originally an Audio CD Player, it has been expanded to play all kinds of media including: WAV, MID, KAR, MP3, AVI, MOV, MPG, MOD, XM, FLI, FLC, AU, SND files and more! Lyrics can be added to all the above media formats, sync'd and displayed along with the file. You can create an "Album" of mixed media formats and use it as a Jukebox! Other features unique to the Windows version include the ability to completely customize the look of the player by re-arranging the order of the sections or removing them all together, and the capability of displaying digitized album covers. All data files are fully compatible with the DOS version. |
Here is a list of features. Please look at the Readme for details on new features, bugs, to-do list etc.
I am no longer actively developing SJGPlay for Windows. Although I won't rule out an update just yet, I am currently concentrating my efforts on Mimic, which is a Multi-component application including media player. I plan to add some of the functionality of SJGPlay (like lyrics) to Mimic in the future.
Not sure which of my software is best for you? Try HERE for a comparison chart. If you want to know how SJGPlay fit into the overall picture with my other software and how media files are played in Windows click HERE.
SJGPlay is written using VisualBASIC Professional, and requires the VB runtimes to be properly installed in your system. SJGPlay will not run without the runtime files. Complete releases include all files and a setup program to install the program. Updates include only the executable file and updated documentation. Make sure you download the correct file(s)!
SJGPlay uses Windows MCI drivers to play media files. Some media files require installation of additional drivers. See the documentation!
Windows NT/2000/XP Users:
Use REGEDIT to add the following key (string):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI32\ActiveMovie
Set the value to: mciqtz32.dll
Note: Download and install the appropriate complete release for your system first then as new updates are released you can copy the new EXE to the SJGPlay directory. You do not need to download the update if the full release has the same version!
Note:Win 95/NT users should choose the VB5 release as all new development will use VB5! Development of the VB4 version cannot be guaranteed!

I want to improve the lyrics playback display window...
Still looking for feedback! Let me know what features you want to see!
Tell me what features you really like/hate or what needs to be fixed.
Check here for solutions: trouble.htm- Updated: Oct 5/04
Alert: For some people the program runs for a while then they do something and it stops running... Looks like it's a bug in my registry/ini routine. To Fix: Win 95 users run REGEDIT and delete the SJGPlay folder. Win 3.1 users should delete the SJGPLAY.INI file in the WINDOWS directory... Hope that fixes things!
Ok, I'll admit it... I couldn't think of a really good name for my CD Player and so I left it at SJGPlay. But maybe you can think of a better one.... If you have any ideas for a new name for it please let me know! Anything at all (as long as it's not already used of course:-). E-mail me with any suggestions!
Graphics Design:SJGPlay needs a logo and an Icon. I'm looking for some artistically enhanced individuals to submit a nice logo and/or icon (or three)... Anyone up to the challenge?
Update Notification:If you would like to be notified when new versions of SJGPlay are released let me know which version you are interested in (DOS or WINDOWS) and I will e-mail you at that time.

A note about e-mail: I respond to every e-mail I receive within a day or two. Occasionally I receive an e-mail that I can not reply to... please check your e-mail setup when mailing via a web browser! If you don't hear from me try again in a few days. |
